NRCS Accepting 2009 EQIP Air Quality Initiative Applications in Crittenden County through April 17, 2009Little Rock, Ark., April 1, 2009 – Farmers and landowners in Crittenden County, Ark., have until April 17, 2009, to submit applications to receive cost-share assistance to implement conservation activities through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Air Quality Initiative for the 2009 program year. Applicants can sign up at the Marion Field Service Center. The purpose of the Crittenden County Air Quality Initiative is to offer financial and technical help to implement conservation practices that have been shown to improve air quality. Individuals and other entities engaged in crop production are eligible to participate in the program. The only practices available through this initiative are Field Borders and Residue and Tillage Management (No-Till). Participants in this initiative may also apply for other EQIP contracts, before or after entering into a contract under this initiative. The contracts can be on the same land provided there is no conflict that would prevent the implementation of the planned practices in either contract according to the implementation schedule.
