Carman Inducted into Arkansas Academy of Biological and Agricultural Engineering

LITTLE ROCK, March 7, 2003 -- Dennis Carman, a 1969 graduate of Casey County High School, was recently inducted into the Arkansas Academy of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

Carman received his degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1973 and immediately began his career with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

He is currently an agricultural engineer with NRCS in Little Rock, Ark., where he provides assistance nationally to NRCS water specialists; engineers; and other federal, state and local partners. The assistance is primarily focused on irrigation and drainage, but also includes animal waste management, wetland restoration, flood control and erosion control.

Carman has received numerous awards throughout his career with the NRCS. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.

His parents, Clarence and Helen Carman, and brother, Richard Carman, are residents of Casey County. He has been married for 30 years to the former Deborah Safran of Cleveland, Ohio, and has one daughter.
